MY AUS VISA — PRIVATE STUDENT 500 FAMILY RULES CHECKLIST
Reviewed: 2 October 2026

Keep personal details on your own device. This is not a visa application or eligibility decision.

[ ] Was the Student application lodged before 2 October 2026? Pending earlier applications are assessed under the earlier rules.
[ ] For a new application, check whether the primary Student applicant meets an official family exemption.
[ ] Check any existing family on a current Student visa and the limited further-visa rules directly with Home Affairs.
[ ] If including family, check that everyone is in the same location when the application is lodged.
[ ] Do not plan a new Student subsequent-entrant application after the Student visa is granted. Home Affairs states there are no exemptions.
[ ] If an exemption applies, check each person's identity, relationship, age, consent, school, funds, health, character and OSHC requirements.
[ ] Check the primary applicant's own application-location rule and current visa conditions.
[ ] If a baby is born or circumstances change, notify Home Affairs through its current process and ask how the new rules apply.
