MY AUS VISA — PRIVATE VISA SCAM CHECKLIST
Reviewed: 27 September 2026

Keep personal details on your own device. Do not send a passport scan, password or payment card details to MyAusVisa.

BEFORE PAYING OR SHARING DOCUMENTS
[ ] Open the visa subclass page yourself on immi.homeaffairs.gov.au and check the permitted activities, charge and application channel.
[ ] If someone claims to be a registered migration agent, search their name and MARN on the official OMARA register. Check the entry matches the person and business you are dealing with.
[ ] A legal practitioner or certain exempt people may also provide immigration assistance. Check the official who-can-help guidance for the role claimed.
[ ] Be cautious of a guaranteed grant, an extra payment to speed up a decision, a visitor visa sold as work permission, or a refusal to show your application.

IF SOMEONE IS HELPING YOU APPLY
[ ] Read the proposed answers and documents yourself. Correct errors and do not agree to false statements.
[ ] Keep access to your own ImmiAccount where the application is lodged. Record the application reference and official receipts.
[ ] Check messages and the written decision through the official channel. For a current visa, check its details in VEVO.

IF YOU THINK IT IS A SCAM
[ ] Stop further payments and preserve messages, receipts and the website address.
[ ] If card or bank details were exposed, contact your bank promptly. If account credentials were exposed, secure the account.
[ ] Report suspected migration fraud to Border Watch and consider Scamwatch; outside Australia, consider local police or consumer authorities.
