MY AUS VISA — PRIVATE WORKING HOLIDAY FIRST-ENTRY PLANNER
Updated: 29 September 2026; general first-entry guidance reviewed 27 September 2026

Keep personal passport numbers, grant references and travel plans on your own device. This is a planning aid, not a visa application or a decision about eligibility.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT ROUTE BEFORE APPLYING
[ ] Record the citizenship and passport I will use to enter Australia. Check the exact first-417 or first-462 passport list and age rule for it.
[ ] Check whether I previously entered Australia on a 417 or 462. A first, second and third visa have different rules.
[ ] If my passport uses a first-462 ballot, check the current registration, selection and application windows. Selection is not a visa grant.
[ ] For first 462, check any country cap, education, English and support-letter rules. For first 417, check the current passport-specific age limit.
[ ] Record where I must be when applying and when Home Affairs decides. Recheck the official page if I travel while the application is pending.

AFTER A FIRST GRANT, BEFORE ARRIVAL
[ ] Read the written grant: passport, first-entry deadline, conditions and any specific instructions.
[ ] Plan the first Australian arrival. Home Affairs says that arrival starts the 12-month first-visa stay even for a short visit or transit and even when an ETA is also held.
[ ] Enter on the passport linked to my Working Holiday Maker grant. If that passport changes, follow Home Affairs passport-update steps before travel.
[ ] Do not apply for another visa without checking whether its later grant could cause my Working Holiday Maker visa and work rights to cease.
[ ] Check work condition 8547, study condition 8548 and any exceptions or permission that actually apply to my grant.

IF PLANNING A LATER WORKING HOLIDAY MAKER VISA
[ ] Check the announced later-visa ballot rollout separately from first-462 registration. No later-visa registration dates are given in the policy summary.
[ ] Read the separate second- or third-visa page before counting specified work. Check the correct subclass, occupation, area, duration and dates.
[ ] A UK-passport 417 specified-work exception does not automatically apply to another passport.
[ ] Keep my own employment records and check my actual eligibility before making travel or job commitments.
