COUNTRY GUIDE · UPDATED 27 SEPTEMBER 2026

Australia visa guide for Bangladeshi passport holders.

For a Bangladeshi passport holder planning a visit or an Australian course, compare Visitor 600 with Student 500 before lodging online. If you live in Bangladesh, follow the High Commission’s current ImmiAccount and biometrics instructions.

START WITH THE PASSPORT

Which visa should you check?

Match the visa to a temporary visit or real study. A visitor visa does not allow work; check your own application and decision in ImmiAccount even if an agent helps you.

The Visitor visa (subclass 600) tourist stream is a useful first page to review for a visit. Eligibility depends on your exact circumstances. Home Affairs decides applications.

COUNTRY-SPECIFIC NOTE

What else should you know?

If you apply while in Bangladesh, the Australian High Commission says applications are submitted through ImmiAccount. Home Affairs may send a biometrics request letter; VFS Global collects biometrics in Bangladesh but does not decide visas.

CONDITIONAL POLICE EVIDENCE · CHECKED 17 OCTOBER 2026

If a certificate for time living in Bangladesh is requested

Your passport alone does not decide every police check. Start with your visa instructions and any individual request, including the countries where you previously lived. The new issuing note separates citizenship and current-residence categories; it is not a complete required-document list.

APPLYING FROM BANGLADESH

Follow the application in your own ImmiAccount

  1. Check the right visa. For a holiday or family visit while you are outside Australia, read the overseas Visitor 600 Tourist stream. It does not permit work. Check the current eligibility, charge and conditions before applying.
  2. Prepare truthful evidence. Match your passport details, explain the trip and how you will fund it, and attach the documents requested in the online application. Include an invitation if you will visit someone; it does not replace evidence about your own circumstances.
  3. Lodge and track online. The High Commission says applications from Bangladesh must be submitted through ImmiAccount. You can apply yourself. If an agent helps, ask to see the application and confirm the visa type, personal details and status in ImmiAccount.
  4. Follow a biometrics letter if sent. Home Affairs may ask for a photo and fingerprints. In Bangladesh, VFS Global collects them as a contracted provider; it cannot decide your application. Follow the letter and current service instructions.
  5. Check the actual decision. A biometrics letter is not a grant. Read the grant notice under Messages in ImmiAccount for the visa type, stay period and work conditions. If refused, read the decision record there before taking further action.

STUDYING FROM BANGLADESH

Use the current Student 500 document list

For a registered course, check the education provider and course on CRICOS and obtain a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) for each intended course. Home Affairs lists a few special categories that can use alternative intended-study evidence; follow the Student document tool rather than assuming a CoE exception. In the tool, select your Bangladeshi passport and the education provider or its CRICOS code. Recheck the output and the attachment prompts in ImmiAccount just before lodging.

Prepare truthful Genuine Student answers explaining your current circumstances, course and provider choice, and expected benefit. Attach records that support your own account. Check the live tool for financial-capacity and English-language evidence, and attach them at lodgement if listed. Arrange Overseas Student Health Cover for the required period, unless a current official exception applies. If a dependant or student is under 18, read the welfare and consent instructions for that person.

The High Commission’s current Bangladesh page says applications are submitted through ImmiAccount; older mission pages and PDFs still describe paper lodgement and old payment methods. Follow the live Student 500 page and document tool, not those older instructions. If you live outside Bangladesh, later biometrics or health services follow your actual location and any request letter.

AVOID VISA SCAMS

Three claims to check yourself

“Your biometrics appointment means the visa is approved.”

It does not. Biometrics collection is one step in processing and the collection provider cannot promise or confirm a decision. Check the letter and your ImmiAccount messages.

“Pay me to speed up biometrics or guarantee a visa.”

The High Commission lists extra payments to speed up biometrics and guaranteed visas as scam signals. Use the official visa page for current charges and the official collection provider instructions for service fees.

“A visitor or transit visa lets you work.”

Neither gives general work permission. Check the visa subclass and conditions on the grant notice in ImmiAccount. If work is your real purpose, find a visa that permits that work before applying.
