Email entered in a form
We use Deanonx, a third-party tracking service, on public guide and form pages. Separate email-confirmation and opt-out pages omit third-party tracking. Its script sends page and referring-page details when you visit. If you enter a valid email address in an email field, it can send that address to Deanonx when you leave the field or submit the form—even if you never submit the form or tick the newsletter consent box. Deanonx may also receive technical information such as your IP address through the network request. We use this service to understand interest in our guides and identify potential leads.
Newsletter signup
If you tick the consent box and submit the signup form, we separately store your email address, consent time, signup source, the page containing the signup form and the first page visited in that browsing session. Only page paths are stored for this attribution, not query strings. We also store a broad acquisition category from the first page in that browsing session, based on the incoming site your browser reports, such as likely Google search, another search engine, a referral or direct/unknown. We do not store the full referring URL in this signup record; browser privacy settings can make the category inaccurate. If you use the planner form, we also store your selected citizenship, residence and travel purpose. The general updates form does not require those route choices. Entering an email without submitting does not subscribe you to future guide emails. We do not ask you to upload passports or financial documents.
Planner choices on your device
After you submit a passport-and-residence planner form, the site saves your country choices, travel-document type and travel purpose in your browser's local storage to prefill later planner forms on that browser. Choices supplied in a link take precedence. Review all selections before continuing. This browser-stored plan is separate from an email subscription; the document-type choice is not added to the newsletter database. Use “Clear saved countries” or “Clear saved residence” in the planner to remove the saved choices, or clear this site's data in your browser.
Confirmation and email preferences
We store your selected email language and keep submitted signups separate from confirmed subscriptions. The confirmation and opt-out system uses random link tokens stored as hashes, confirmation expiry dates and private subscription state. A new signup is unconfirmed; opting out or a bounce or complaint blocks guide delivery. Delivery is still being prepared, so no confirmation or guide emails are currently sent. Email preference links use separate pages without Google Analytics or Deanonx so the link token is not passed to those services. You can also use Contact for an email preference or privacy request.
Contact messages
If you send our contact form, we store your email, topic, optional page path, message and submission time in a separate private database so we can review and respond. A contact request is not newsletter consent. Please do not include sensitive identity, financial, medical or application records in the message. We retain contact requests until they are resolved or no longer needed for that purpose.
How we use information
We use submitted signup information to prepare and send Australian visa guidance and relevant updates. We also receive ordinary server logs from our hosting provider for security and operation. We share the tracking information described above with Deanonx to provide its service.
Google Analytics
The Google tag runs by default on ordinary website pages to measure visits and help us improve the guides. The separate confirmation and opt-out pages described above omit it. It can use cookies and receive page, device and network information. A new submitted newsletter signup sends a lead event with the signup page, not the email address. We also count when someone uses the homepage shortcut to the optional signup form, when at least half a signup form is visible, and when someone first focuses its email, consent or submit control. These counters send the page path and form category, not entered answers; their page URL omits query details. Google Analytics automatic form-interaction events can also send a nonpersonal form ID, such as the guide signup or contact form name, so we can tell the forms apart. A form-interaction event does not mean you joined the newsletter. Clicking a free text or CSV worksheet link sends a file-download event with its worksheet name, file type and path; it does not send the form answers or email address. Saving an on-device visitor budget or Student cost summary sends a worksheet-save action with its fixed worksheet name and guide path. Entered amounts, calculated results and saved file contents are not included. A save action does not prove the file was written to your device or that you joined the email list. We have disabled Google advertising signals and ad personalisation in our tag settings. Your browser settings can limit cookies. This tracking is separate from Deanonx.
Your choices
You may ask us to delete your email record or stop future messages through our contact form. You can also ask us about data collected through Deanonx. Any future newsletter emails will include an unsubscribe method. We retain submitted signup records until you request deletion or we no longer need them for this purpose.
Security
Submitted lead data is stored outside publicly served files. Hosting access should be limited to authorised site administrators. Internet transmission and storage cannot be guaranteed perfectly secure.
