Which visa should you check?
Choose the visa for your actual visit or study. An invitation can support a temporary visit but does not replace your own application; a course needs its own Student 500 evidence.
The Visitor visa (subclass 600) tourist stream is a useful first page to review for a visit. Eligibility depends on your exact circumstances. Home Affairs decides applications.

What else should you know?
If you apply while in the Philippines, the Australian Embassy says biometrics are generally required unless excluded or exempt. After receiving your letter, check whether you can use the Australian Immi App for an eligible request; the separate Frequent Traveller stream requires collection at an Australian Biometrics Collection Centre.
What happens after you submit online?
- Choose your stream and apply in ImmiAccount. For a holiday or family visit, compare the overseas Tourist stream with any other stream that fits your actual plans. The Australian Embassy says applications from the Philippines are lodged online, rather than on paper.
- Upload the evidence for your application. Explain your plans, funding and reasons to return to your usual residence. Use the checklist shown in your application and keep names and dates consistent with your passport.
- Watch for the biometrics request. If you lodge while in the Philippines and are not excluded or exempt, the Embassy says biometric collection is required for each application. If your letter and location make you eligible for the Australian Immi App, follow its instructions. Otherwise book a centre appointment after receiving the letter, and take the letter and passport. Check the stated deadline and current centre details; the Embassy currently lists Manila, Cebu and Davao.
- Follow up in ImmiAccount. Upload requested documents there and watch for a written decision. A biometrics visit is not a visa approval.

Tourist or Frequent Traveller?
The ordinary overseas Tourist stream is a starting point for a temporary holiday or family visit. The separate Visitor 600 Frequent Traveller stream explicitly includes Philippine citizens who travel often to Australia for tourism or permitted business visitor activities. It may be granted for up to 10 years, with a stay of up to three months on each entry. Check the grant notice for condition 8573, which limits a holder to no more than 12 months in any 24-month period when attached. A long validity is not permission to live or work in Australia.
Compare eligibility, conditions, application location and the current charge on the official pages before choosing. Home Affairs currently requires Frequent Traveller applicants to give biometrics at an Australian Biometrics Collection Centre; an app option for another request should not be assumed for this stream. Each family member needs a separate application.

Build the Student 500 list for your course
For a registered course, confirm the provider and course on CRICOS. Home Affairs generally requires a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) for each intended course when you apply; its document tool identifies limited special categories with different intended-study evidence. Choose Philippines as your passport country and your actual education provider in that tool, then recheck its list and the ImmiAccount attachment prompts just before lodging. A generic Philippine checklist cannot tell you what your chosen provider changes.
Prepare answers to the Genuine Student questions in your own words, with records that support your circumstances, course choice and expected benefit. Check whether the tool calls for financial-capacity and English-language evidence, and provide it at lodgement when required. Arrange Overseas Student Health Cover for the required period and read the welfare and parental-consent rules if a student or dependant is under 18. Translate non-English documents under the current Student 500 instructions.
The Embassy's current Philippines page says visa applications are lodged in ImmiAccount, while an older "Where to apply" page still lists paper routes. Follow the live Student 500 instructions and your own request letter. If you lodge while in the Philippines, check the biometrics request promptly and use the app only if your letter and current location qualify; otherwise follow the centre appointment instructions. A biometrics visit is not a grant.

Keep control of your details
The Australian Embassy warns about agents who promise a guaranteed visa, claim a Visitor visa can be used for work, or submit false documents. Check the information entered on your behalf and keep access to your ImmiAccount. If you plan to work, review a visa with work rights instead.

Is a Philippine passport eligible to apply for the announced 462 program now?
Home Affairs says Australia and the Philippines signed an agreement for a Work and Holiday (subclass 462) arrangement, but the administrative setup is still underway. It has not published a start date or the final application steps for Philippine passport holders. The announcement describes a future annual arrangement for up to 200 young travellers; it is not a current visa grant or an invitation to lodge a first 462 application.
Watch the official Working Holiday Maker latest-news page for the launch date, the planned Philippine Letter of Concurrence process and the exact eligibility rules. Do not copy the China, India or Vietnam ballot dates; those are separate current arrangements. A Visitor 600 visa cannot be used to take a job while you wait. If you need to work in Australia sooner, use the official work visa finder for your actual occupation and circumstances.
