Start with the overseas Visitor 600 Tourist stream
A Pakistani passport is not on the current ETA 601 or eVisitor 651 passport lists. A UAE residence permit does not change that. For tourism or visiting family and friends, read the Visitor visa (subclass 600) Tourist stream for applicants outside Australia. It requires you to be outside Australia when you apply and when Home Affairs decides the application; it does not permit work.
If your main purpose is a course, employment or joining family to live in Australia, use the visa finder for that purpose instead. If you hold another citizenship, check the passport you will actually travel on.

Explain the trip and your usual life in the UAE
Home Affairs asks visitor applicants to explain their travel plans, available funds and reasons to leave Australia after the visit. For a UAE resident, relevant evidence might include a current UAE residence record, an employer letter confirming your job and approved leave, payslips, study records or family responsibilities where you normally live. Include Pakistan ties where they genuinely matter to your return plan. These are possible evidence types, not a required bundle or a guarantee.
Use the passport identity page, name history, invitation and host funding evidence if relevant to your own circumstances. Check the document prompts in ImmiAccount and translate non-English documents as Home Affairs directs. Do not invent a fixed bank balance or travel booking to make a generic checklist look complete.

Apply in ImmiAccount and keep access yourself
- Confirm the Tourist stream, current charge and conditions on Home Affairs before paying.
- Complete the online application with passport details exactly as printed and your actual UAE address and circumstances.
- Attach the documents requested for your case, pay in the official channel and keep the application reference.
- Check ImmiAccount messages and the nominated email for biometrics, health, character or additional-document requests.
- Wait for the written outcome. Read the grant dates, permitted stay, entries and conditions before finalising travel.
The Australian High Commission in Pakistan describes Pakistan-based centre arrangements, but those local arrangements do not automatically apply while you live in the UAE. Follow the UAE service instructions and your own request letter.

Read the letter before choosing the app or a centre
Not every application receives the same biometrics request. Home Affairs lists the UAE for the Australian Immi App: an eligible request letter with a visa lodgement number beginning AUI may let you scan your passport and provide a live photo in the app. If the number does not begin AUI, Home Affairs says to attend an Australian Biometrics Collection Centre. Its current list includes Abu Dhabi and Dubai; check the latest location and appointment instructions before travel.
Take the passport linked to the application and follow the deadline and method in the letter. A successful app submission or centre visit completes an identity step; it is not a visa grant. If you cannot meet a deadline, explain the problem through the official application channel and wait for instructions.

Which country’s instructions should you follow?
Does UAE residence make a Pakistani passport ETA eligible?
No. Check short-visit passport eligibility using the passport you will travel on. UAE residence can be relevant to your evidence and local follow-up, but is not an ETA or eVisitor passport.
Do Pakistan biometrics appointment rules apply in the UAE?
No. The High Commission’s Pakistan centre note is for collection in Pakistan. If you receive a request while living in the UAE, follow its letter and current UAE app or collection-centre instructions.
Is a UAE residence card enough to prove I will return?
Home Affairs looks at the visit and your circumstances as a whole. Give truthful, relevant evidence of work, study, family, funds and your return plan where applicable. No single document guarantees a decision.
